The biggest issue facing Village at the moment is still the closure of bridge on Gayton Rd (Tin Bridge). Our local MP Sarah Bool visited the site recently with myself and has since been in contact with head of Network Rail and met with Leader of WNC. It is now anticipated that the process will move on and hopefully I will have some good news for the village soon.
Parking is a real problem in the village especially when events attract visitors from outside the village. It is great especially at Weekends when we have youngsters playing either Rugby or Football but sadly these generate a lot of cars. Could those involved please park considerably and respect residents driveways and access. If possible please walk to the event or consider car sharing.
Some upgrades to the village play areas are due to take place soon. The swing in the area near Primary School will be replaced due to wear and tear. One of the swings at the Playing Field is broken and needs replacing so it will be with an infant swing making the whole area more inclusive.
Bugbrooke has more dog poo bins than any village in the surrounding area however a very small minority of owners still fail to pick up despite the ease of disposal. On occasions the bins can become full and if this happens please do not deposit your filled bag next to the bin please. Either put it in a litter bin which is allowable or take it home and put in your own bin please.
Work at Captains close will be starting soon with the erection of a metal fence along the northern boundary replacing the old metal fence and barbed wire. Once secure it is anticipated that sheep will graze in there and manage the grass. Further work to the trees and the southern boundary wall is anticipated in the New Year.
Back in September the Parish Council wrote to owners of the Five Bells Pub expressing our dismay at the state of the building and surrounding area. It is now great to see that refurbishment work has commenced and anticipated opening date is December. It will be great to see this village asset back in use and we wish the tenants good luck when open.
As ever if you spot any issues around village then please contact the Clerk direct on parishclerk@bugbrookeparishcouncil.org so that action can be taken quickly rather than using Facebook or social media.
