Your Parish Council
Every councillor is a volunteer who has put themselves forward to serve the community and do their best to represent the views of the community. Councillors have either been awarded their place by putting themselves forward for the 2024 election (uncontested) or by co-option.

Phil Bignell was born and has always lived locally, spending the past 47 years in Bugbrooke, where he now serves as Chair of the Parish Council. After taking early retirement in 2010, he was elected as a District Councillor at SNC in 2011 and later to the WNC Unitary Authority in 2020. Having lived his entire life in the countryside, he is passionate about preserving the special character of the area. Phil is always available and ready to listen to residents’ concerns, working with them to seek practical resolutions. Phil is also the Unitary Conservative Councillor for Campion Ward.
Phil is involved in the following committees: Bugbrooke Sports and Community Association Representative, Speed Watch, Primary School Governor, HR Committee, Streetlighting Representative, Finance Committee and Patient Participation Group.

Jane Wood – A Parish Councillor since 2020, Jane has come to appreciate how much responsibility a well-run council holds and the positive impact it can have on village life. She helped establish and now co-runs the Community Living Room, a welcoming social hub open three times a week, and with fellow councillor Clare Slater founded the Bugbrooke Environmental Working Group to support local “green” initiatives. From organising litter picks and recycling days to promoting wildlife-friendly grassland management, she is committed to helping Bugbrooke thrive. She enjoys the role, values the support of residents, and is proud to contribute to the strength and community spirit of the village.
Jane is involved in the following committees: Finance Committee, HR Committee, Environmental Working Group and Community Resilience Group. Jane is also the parish councils Internal Control Councillor.

Nicola Palmer
Clerk & RFO
The Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) supports the Parish Council by managing its daily administration, preparing agendas and minutes, and ensuring all financial matters are handled correctly.
Nicola provides guidance to help councillors make informed decisions and keeps the council operating smoothly and lawfully. Having worked for the council since 2018, she is dedicated to helping make Bugbrooke an even better place to live.
